Tasting notes
Vivid purple. A deeply perfumed bouquet evokes ripe dark berries, cherry liqueur and potpourri, while olive, potpourri and exotic spice nuances build in the glass. Intense, alluringly sweet black raspberry, blueberry, cherry-vanilla, spice-cake and violet pastille flavors show sharp delineation and a spine of juicy acidity. Finishes extremely long and precise, displaying a smoky mineral quality and youthfully gripping tannins that build steadily. The grapes here were co-fermented.

The 2018 Cuvée Chloe is a blend of co-fermented Syrah (72%), Grenache (21%) and Viognier (7%), aged in 60% new French oak, 20% one-year-old French oak and 20% amphora. Vibrant ruby-purple, it has a gorgeous perfume of pure violet, tar, cassis and crushed blue fruits with notes of bitter chocolate and mint. The palate is full-bodied, firmly framed and packed with perfumed fruits, and it finishes with great freshness to carry the lingering floral notes. Give it another 3-5 years in bottle. 300 cases were made.
A co-fermented blend of 72% Syrah, 21% old vine Grenache, and a solid chunk of Viognier, the 2018 Chloe reveals a dense purple color as well as a flawless bouquet of blackberries, blueberries, crushed stone, spring flowers, and licorice. Full-bodied, deep, rich, and structured, it's a blockbuster beauty that offers incredible elegance paired with power. As with most of these 2018s from l'Aventure, the cellar is going to be your friend.
