Tasting notes
Revisited in bottle, the 2019 Volnay 1er Cru Caillerets is showing brilliantly, soaring from the glass with aromas of sweet red berries, rose petals, orange zest, warm spices and raw cocoa. Medium to full-bodied, velvety and seamless, it's bright and charming, with a perfumed core of fruit and an elegant, sensual profile, concluding with a saline finish.

The 2019 Volnay Les Caillerets 1er Cru has an intriguing nose, more savory, almost meatier than the preceeding Fremiet, yet still well defined with ferrous notes surfacing with time. The palate is well balanced with supple tannins. This is very lithe in the mouth, velvety smooth with a rounded, generous finish. Maybe other vintages show a little more nerve, although it does have exceedingly good length.
