The 2022 Olivier Blanc has a simple bouquet with clean dried honey and beeswax scents that gradually open in the glass. The palate has decent weight, a little honeyed in texture, lightly spiced with a Rhône-like texture towards the finish. Fortunately, the acidity keeps this on the straight and narrow. Tasted blind at the Southwold tasting in London.

A blend of 75% Sauvignon Blanc and 25% Sémillon, the 2022 Château Olivier Blanc offers a reductive, grassy nose with crushed stone, medium-bodied weight, and good acidity. Focused and clean, with impressive concentration and integrated acidity, this is a fresh and lively Pessac-Léognan. Aged 10 months in oak, it should drink well for 10-12 years. Total production: 1,500 cases.

The 2022 Olivier Blanc offers green apple and pear scents mixed with citrus peel on the nose. The palate is well balanced with fine acidity, though it doesn't have the complexity or mineralité of the best whites that I have tasted from the estate.

Pineapples, white peaches, flowers, orange zest, yellow citrus and a dab of honey mesh together to produce the perfume. Creamy, sweet, and fruity, with a long, yellow and orange citrus endnote, this is quite nice from start to finish. The wine blends 75% Sauvignon Blanc and 25% Semillon, 13.76% ABV. The harvest took place August 18, finishing August 31, making this the earliest white wine harvest in the history of the estate.

Ch. Olivier is one of the few actual castles in Bordeaux – coming with a moat and drawbridge. Since Alexandre de Bethmann took over here in 2012, the château has been given a new lease of life, with quality on the rise.
