The 2022 Lynch-Moussas has a fresh nose with blackberry and cedar scents, quite classic in style and bright. The palate is medium-bodied with grainy tannins, not intense but tensile, with an energetic and disciplined finish. What I want from the Left Bank in 2022, and this is always competitively priced. Tasted blind at the Southwold tasting in London.

The 2022 Lynch-Moussas has developed well on the nose since primeur, offering a mélange of red and black fruit, pencil shavings and light forest floor scents that are all well defined and focused. The oak here is neatly integrated. The palate is medium-bodied with sapid black fruit mixed with cedar and white pepper tones, building nicely toward a structured cracked pepper finish that lingers in the mouth. This is promising. It is a more refined Lynch-Moussas compared to prior vintages.
70% Cabernet Sauvignon, 30% Merlot. Medium-intensity nose. Good combo of freshness and intensity. Not underpinned by great concentration but serviceable. Slightly drying finish. (JR)
About the producer
This Fifth Growth Pauillac estate was purchased by the Castéja family – owners of Ch. Batailley – in 1919. In recent years they have been investing in the property, focused on driving quality forward.
