Score 91-93/100 · Drink 2025-2042, Neal Martin, Dec 2021
The 2020 Vosne-Romanée Les Barreaux, from vines planted back in 1903, has a beautifully-defined bouquet that unfurls in the glass, black plum and cranberry, touches of sea spray coming through with time. The palate is well balanced with fresh red fruit on the entry, lightly spiced, quite cohesive with a velvety finish. Lovely.

North-facing vines, above Richebourg. Low yields, 25 hl/ha, benefitting from the freshness of the site and low pH. Tank sample. Rich fruit, aromatic nose of iodine and violets. (MH)
