2020 Forster Ungeheuer Riesling GG 44 18

An extensive vineyard that varies between 120 and 170 m elevation. Sixty per cent of this south- and south-east-facing vineyard slopes up towards the edge of the forest, while 40% is flat. Mosbacher's vines are mid-slope and are usually their first to ripen. There is sandstone with limestone outcrops and basalt. Certified organic. The nose is still quite introvert but promises riches to come. Textured and complex on the palate with an impressively long finish. This is definitely not ready and will probably repay keeping for longer than another year. Real grip to this wine. A muscular dry Riesling with texture and longevity. (JR)

This elegant and polished dry riesling GG has very attractive fruit-salad character on the medium-bodied palate. Quite some structure becomes apparent as it gently moves over the palate and there’s impressive citrus and mineral character at the long finish. Drink or hold.
