Tasting notes
A regular purchase chez Lignier, the 2019 Nuits-Saint-Georges 1er Cru Les Didiers (Hospices de Nuits) was, as usual, racked into twice-used barrels when it arrived at the winery. Exhibiting aromas of sweet berry fruit, cassis, raw cocoa and spices, it's medium to full-bodied, lively and rather charming, with an elegant, seamless profile that contrasts with last year's showing.

The 2019 Nuits Saint-Georges Les Didiers (Hospices de Nuits) shows a small reduction on the nose, although there appears to be lovely mulberry and dark cherry fruit underneath. The palate is medium-bodied and as expected it displays a thick lick of new oak, as the Hospices de Nuits always auctions the wines in 100% new wood irrespective to the level of fruit. Lignier racked it into a used barrel in May 2020 so it is difficult to judge how that wood will be integrated by the time it is in bottle. I will defer judgement for now.
