Tasting notes
(from vines on shallow, rocky soil): Healthy medium red. Bright aromas of raspberry and crushed stone complemented by subtle oak. At once silky and vivacious, with a very fine-grained texture to its berry and mineral flavors. Still youthfully clenched, even austere, but this firmly structured wine finishes with ripe tannins and excellent length. Plenty of potential here.

The 2013 Nuits Saint Georges 1er Cru les Perrières has a heightened sense of mineralité compared to Chevillon’s other crus, with wet cold stone scents infusing the bright red fruit. The palate is medium-bodied with supple tannins and a vitamin-like purity: orange zest, hints of marmalade, a slight savory note toward the long finish. This is a linear, "athletic" Nuits Saint Georges, that should flourish once in bottle.
