Score 88/100 · Drink 2010, Robert Parker, Aug 1999

The 1995 Barolo Brunate is a fruit-driven wine, with gobs of cherry liqueur, as well as sandalwood, cedar, and flowers. Firm, with plenty of tannin, and an earthy personality, it is drinkable, but may improve with a few years of bottle age. Anticipated maturity: now-2010. Importer: Veuve Clicquot, New York, NY; tel. Medium red color. More reticent, slightly medicinal aromas of raspberry, cherry and marzipan. Sweet and more layered in the mouth; deep and rich but also quite vibrant. Complex notes of cherry and dried flowers. Seems denser than the above, and the tannins appear to be finer. Subtle finishing fruit really lingers on the palate.
