Tasting notes
The 2015 Clos de la Roche Grand Cru has abundant red fruit on a pure, seductive nose whose aromas coil themselves around your senses and whisk you all the way to Burgundy. The precise, medium-bodied palate offers sappy red berry fruit, perfectly judged acidity and a pure, rounded, caressing finish that might just benefit from a little more tension. Maybe that lack of bite knocks off a point or two, but otherwise, impressive and delicious. Tasted blind at the annual Burgfest tasting.

Rich, dramatic and modern, the 2015 Clos de la Roche Grand Cru offers up a lavish bouquet of black cherries, dark wild berries, espresso roast and creamy new oak. On the palate, the wine is full-bodied, ample and concentrated, with an abundance of fine but chewy tannins, a tight-knit core and a long, savory finish. It's a powerful, stylized wine that's out to make an impression, but it has the substance and underlying seriousness to back it up.
