Tasting notes
The 2020 Gevrey-Chambertin Les Corbeaux 1er Cru, matured in 50% new oak, has a complex bouquet with brambly red fruit, cranberry, sous-bois and iris flower scents that unfolds wonderfully in the glass. The palate is medium-bodied with sappy dark berry fruits that exert a gentle grip, structured and linear with a granular texture on the finish. Wonderful focus and sense of energy here. Superb.

The 2020 Gevrey-Chambertin 1er Cru Les Corbeaux is the finest rendition of this cuvée I've tasted chez Bachelet. Unfurling in the glass with aromas of blackberries and raspberries mingled with exotic spices, rose petals and orange rind, it's medium to full-bodied, velvety and concentrated, with a deep core of fruit that's girdled by tangy acids and fine, powdery tannins.
Situated next to Mazis-Chambertin. Cask sample. Deep-mid ruby; a little more backward than the village Gevrey. Sweet Griotte-cherry compote; squarer and less open, but given abundant life by incisive acidity. (MH)
