(35% each of garnacha and cabernet sauvignon and 10% each of carinena, syrah and merlot): Bright purple. Explosively perfumed nose displays red berry, mineral and floral qualities underscored by suave baking spices. Lush and deeply pitched, with vibrant minerality lifting the sweet raspberry and bitter cherry flavors. Silky, fully absorbed tannins add shape to the long, juicy, fruit-driven finish. This is more seductive than the 2007 version.

Score 91/100 · Drink 2011-2020, Jay S Miller, Wine Advocate, May 2011

The 2008 Clos de L’Obac is composed of 35% Cabernet Sauvignon, 35% Garnacha, with the balance Syrah, Merlot, and Carinena aged 14 months in new French oak before bottling without filtration. It reveals a deeper color along with an inviting bouquet of pain grille, mineral, Asian spices, incense, blackberry, and plum. Round and smooth on the palate, this is a surprisingly forward effort that can be approached now, although it should easily last through 2020.
