Tasting notes
Aged for two years in two-year-old pièces and sulfured only after two years, the 2021 Completer Malanserrebe is very clear and open on the intense and aromatic, fine spicy nose. On the palate, this is a rich and intense yet quite oaky Completer with Taransaud flavors. The tannins are quite drying at this early stage and a little too prominent, but the wine is full-bodied, rich and complex enough for long bottle aging. Far from being digestible and even hard on the finish tannin-wise, this is a rather rustic Completer that underwent maceration for several hours. 13.5% stated alcohol. Natural cork. Tasted at the domaine in March 2024.

Picked late and shriveled at high gradations of 105-110° Oechsle, macerated overnight and fermented in old Chardonnay barrels for nine months, the citrus-colored 2021 Completer Malanserrebe offers a clear and precise bouquet of concentrated fruits intertwined with iodine notes. Elegant and refined on the palate, this is a full-bodied, very complex and intense, saline/crystalline white with enormous vitality and mineral tension. The acidity is enormous this year (11.5 grams per liter) but ripe and vibrant. The finish is very long and complex, with a charming sweetness of nine grams per liter that comes across as elegant fruit. A great wine indeed. 14.8% stated alcohol. Natural cork. Tasted at the domaine in Malans, February 2023.
