Tasting notes
The 2020 Meursault Les Perrières 1er Cru has a tiny bit more reduction than the Perrières from Château de Meursault, although I feel there is more depth and complexity behind it. Touches of crushed stone/basalt linger off-stage. The palate is nicely balanced with a sapid entry, fresh and crisp with oyster shell-tinged white fruit. Lovely spiciness towards the finish fans out beautifully. This has real pedigree. Tasted blind at the annual Burgfest tasting.

The 2020 Meursault 1er Cru Les Perrières is brilliant, unwinding in the glass with reductive aromas of citrus zest, iodine, white flowers and struck flint. Medium- to full-bodied, taut and structured, this is a dense, concentrated white Burgundy of real intensity and grip that represents the essence of Perrières.
The 2020 Meursault Les Perrières 1er Cru has a generous nose with yellow plum, jasmine and crushed stone aromas. The palate is quite intense on the entry, fresh thanks to a fine line of acidity, though here I am seeking a little more Perrières DNA on the finish, a little more crushed stone/silex. Good length though, this should age well in bottle.
