The 2020 Clos de Vougeot Grand Cru offers a m�lange of red and black fruit on the nose, touches of tobacco and sous-bois, quite well-defined and showing more terroir expression than the preceeding Malconsorts. The palate is medium-bodied with saturated tannins on the entry, fine structure, good acidity, slightly candied with veins of blood orange and marmalade towards the grippy finish. This should age well in bottle.

TA (sulphuric) 3.6 g/l, TA (tartaric) 5.51 g/l, pH 3.35. 30% whole bunch. 17 months’ oak ageing, 40% new. Cask sample. Earthy, spicy, long and exotic. Lovely balance with fresh black fruit – blackberry and damson. Firm tannins, hit of oak which needs a year or two to settle. Substantially better than many a Clos de Vougeot. (AWH) 13.5%
Almost black purple, with a really powerful bouquet, lots of oak and a fruit which may be a little bit too ripe, filling the palate but leaving it a bit hollow, then tannins and acidity. Not sure where this will go. On the high side of 14.5% and it shows.�

Based in Nuits-Saint-Georges, Domaine du Clos Frantin is Albert Bichot’s top estate. The domaine has an exceptional range of Grand Cru and Premier Cru sites in the Côte de Nuits and has for several years been producing top drawer-Burgundy.
