Barrel selection from the oldest block. MLF and 33% new oak. No filtration. 3,000 bottles. Chalky minerality, fresh citrus and subtle vanilla and clove notes from the integrated oak. Taut, spicy and flinty, with good length too. Will benefit from a couple of years to unwind. (TJ)

The 2018 Art of Chardonnay is matured in 40% new oak and feels much tighter on the nose compared directly against the Reserve Chardonnay, eventually revealing lemon curd, pine nut and light fumé scents. The well-balanced, linear palate delivers a fine bead of acidity and steely tension before fanning out on the pithy, lightly spiced finish. Quite mercurial in the glass, this Chardonnay deserves one or two years in bottle, although it will be difficult to resist.
