Score 92/100 · Drink 2020-2030, Stephan Reinhardt, Wine Advocate, Aug 2020

Form weathered volcanic soils, the 2018 Spätburgunder Vulkan is deep and intense on the concentrated yet pure, elegant, peppery and spicy and beautifully nuanced bouquet. On the palate, this is a full-bodied and juicy yet pure, silky-textured, vibrantly fresh, straight and tightly structured Pinot with a linear course, very fine tannins and great vitality. What an energetic and beautiful Pinot! Fermented with 20% whole clusters and aged in oak during 18 months. 13% alcohol. Tasted from L/183 in July 2020.
