Aromas of peonies, orange rind, ripe plums and spices introduce the 2019 Gevrey-Chambertin 1er Cru Champeaux, a medium to full-bodied, fleshy and layered wine that's ample and enveloping, with beautifully refined tannins and lively acids. It's so pretty and expressive one might almost miss its sneaky depth and underlying structure.

The 2019 Gevrey-Chambertin Les Champeaux 1er Cru has a lovely bouquet of shimmering red berry fruit, marmalade and light white pepper aromas, conveying very good energy. The palate is medium-bodied with fine tannins and well-judged acidity, cohesive and quite fleshy on the finish. This is a well-crafted Champeaux with good persistence and I suspect it will offer up to two decades of drinking pleasure.
