Tasting notes
The 2019 Nieder-Hilbersheim Steinacker Riesling trocken opens with a very reductive and stony yet intense bouquet with deep and concentrated fruit. Since the wine didn't develop over three days, aging might be the best recommendation. Round, piquant and herbal on the palate, this is a full-bodied yet filigreed, finessed, lean and straight dry Riesling with grip and tension. The finish is currently still pretty austere and reminiscent of green apples, but it's interesting and reveals promising length. 12.5% alcohol. Tasted in January 2021.

AP number 18 20. Pure and intense focused nose with quite a bit of astringency still. Needs a bit of time. Dry finish. (JR)
AP number 28 20. TA 12 g/l, RS 130 g/l. Smoky nose is more reticent than that of the Hundertgulden Auslese. Well-judged wine with great integrity – and youth. Almost painful acidity. This needs a heck of a lot of time. (JR)
