Tasting notes
Thomas Haag's 2019 Wehlener Sonnenuhr Riesling Kabinett comes in with 7.5% alcohol and a highly delicate bouquet of fine Riesling and slate aromas. It is lush and piquant on the palate, with a silky texture and nature that makes you swallow it immediately. This is one of the moist noble Kabinett wines I have tasted for this report. It is certainly sweet and more of a delicate Spätlese rather than a Kabinett. Very fine yet complex, with a frisky character and filigreed structure. Really a Riesling to adore. Tasted from AP 1120 in May 2020.

AP number 11 20. TA 7.8 g/l, RS 66 g/l. Quite pungent and dense on the nose. Very juicy but somehow not quite as compelling as the Goldtröpfchen. For the moment it's a little raw and simple, though will doubtless grow into the groove. This seems really quite sweet. (JR)
