Tasting notes
From 33-year-old vines, Molitor’s 2017 Pinot Noir Graacher Himmelreich *** is deep, pure, fresh and complex on the concentrated, intensely fruity, fleshy and cherry-scented nose that reveals clove and toasty aromas. Full-bodied, intense and juicy on the palate yet immediately with some too forced, drying tannins, this is a round, crystalline and iodine, quite open and mouth-salivating yet also juicy, fine and elegant Pinot with substance. The finish is a little brittle (still?) but also long, tight, complex and promising. Tasted in May 2021.
