Tasting notes
The 2017 Chablis La Fôret 1er Cru has a lively bouquet of lemon zest and touches of blood orange, understated at first but gaining intensity with aeration; there is just a bit of obfuscating sulfur. The powerful palate is quite sharp on the entry with a strong citric thread and a sour lemon note lending tension toward the weighty, lactic finish. This needs time, but I think it has potential. Tasted blind at the annual Burgfest tasting in Savigny-lès-Beaune.

The 2017 Chablis La Foret 1er Cru is a super-expressive, weightless wine that captures the essence of what makes Chablis so special, and that is the ability to deliver incredible flavor intensity without excess weight. The 2017 needs a bit of time in bottle to come together, as the oak is not fully assimilated just yet. Even so, the 2017 is incredibly vivid and precise. What a wine!
Gently reductive aromas of citrus oil and freshly baked bread introduce the 2017 Chablis 1er Cru La Forêt, a medium to full-bodied, satiny but incisive wine with tangy acids and a discreetly saline finish.
A beautifully fresh, floral nose with hints of chalk and yellow citrus fruit, too. The palate has attractively pithy aromas with a fresh core of lemon and just-ripe peach. Very composed. Drink or hold.
