Score 92/100 · Drink 2021-2035, Neal Martin, Jan 2019

The 2017 Echézeaux Grand Cru has a nicely detailed bouquet with ample red cherries, cranberry and wilted rose petal aromas. The palate is medium-bodied with supple tannin, quite fresh and focused with a precise, rather minerally finish, a tang of oyster shell popping up on the aftertaste. This is a fine debut from Pierre Duroché’s negoçiant arm.

Domaine Duroche

Domaine Duroché has, under Pierre Duroché, become one of the most sought-out and respected wine domaines in Gevrey-Chambertin. The wines are delicate and detailed, yet with old-vine intensity, a clear sense of place and style – and it’s easy to see why they’ve rapidly become so in-demand.
