Score 93/100 · Drink 2023-2043, William Kelley, Wine Advocate, Jan 2021
Revisited from bottle, the 2018 Clos Saint-Denis Grand Cru has turned out well, unwinding in the glass with aromas of sweet berries, smoked meats, cherries, orange rind, warm spices and framboise. Full-bodied, rich and muscular, its ample core of fruit largely concealing ripe but youthfully chalky tannins, this is a powerful, lusty Clos Saint-Denis that possesses plenty of character, even if it isn't the most elegant Jouan has produced in recent years.

About the producer

Philippe Jouan
The wines of Henri & Philippe Jouan fly under the radar – and, with the current quantities produced (from just three hectares of vines), this is unlikely to change any time soon.
