Score 89/100 · Drink 2021-2027, Neal Martin, Sep 2020

The 2018 Chablis Fourchaume 1er Cru, aged for 12 months in stainless steel, has a fine beeswax and crushed stone nose, a little resinous compared to its peers. The palate is lively on the entry, offering tangy orange peel and even a dab of marmalade. Good weight here, even if it just misses a little nervosité on the finish.

Ripe fruit tempered by a fine steely/stony aroma. Deep but fresh too. Creamy and rather gentle but more persistent than the Léchet and Lys. (JH)

The 2018 Chablis Fourchaume 1er Cru is the most expressive and complete of the 1er Crus in this range. There is so much to like in the 2018. Ample and resonant, as wines from this site tend to be, the 2018 reveals lovely shades of dimensions. Dried citrus peel, savory herbs, chamomile and white flowers all build into lacy, persistent finish. A persistent , lacy finish rounds things out in style.
