Tasting notes
The 2017 Bonnes-Mares Grand Cru has a lovely, floral bouquet that is very well defined, traces of violet filtering through the black cherries and bilberry fruit. This particular cru had not been racked at the time of my visit. Nevertheless, it opens wonderfully with a succulent, sensual cassis-tinged finish that lingers on the finish. Give this four or five years. Excellent.

Terres blanches. Near Chambolle, at the Morey border. No stems. Barrel sample. Sweetly perfumed with red cherry. Dry, fine-boned and the tannins suppressing the fragrance on the palate. Needs more time to become expressive but the fruit is pure and the structure refined for a future perfect marriage and expressiveness. Edgy dark fruit on the finish. Long. (JH)
