Score 89-91/100 · Drink 2020-2030, Neal Martin, Jan 2019

The 2017 Gevrey-Chambertin Les Champeaux 1er Cru (not to be confused with the Domaine Tawse bottling) is 100% de-stemmed and matured in 50% new oak. It has quite a generous bouquet of macerated red cherries, crushed strawberry and a touch of melted tar. The palate is medium-bodied with slightly chewy tannin and plenty of substance, although I am seeking just a little more nuance and detail toward the finish at the moment.
