Score 89-91/100 · Drink 2020-2030, Neal Martin, Jan 2019

The 2017 Nuits Saint-Georges Village comes mostly from the climat of Longcourt, made with no punching down or remontage during vinification - the minimum extraction – and matured in 30% new oak. The bouquet is very well defined, featuring red cherries, wild strawberry and candied orange peel. The palate is medium-bodied with fine tannin, a little rigid at first but loosening up toward the grippy, slightly peppery finish.

Parcels from the Prémeaux-Prissey (earthy) and Vosne-Romanée (more elegant) sides. No stalks or pumpover or pigeage, just some hand/foot plunging. 30% new oak. Tank sample. Lightish cherry red. Lifted sour cherry on the nose and peppery spice. Tight with lots of energy, fine-boned, juicy and light in tannins. Has drive and length and still a scented palate. Oak barely shows. (JH)
