Tasting notes
The ruby-colored 1999 Morey-St.-Denis 1er Cru (produced from the youngest vines of the Clos des Lambrays) has dark roasted fruit aromatics. Medium-bodied and revealing strawberry, spice, and cherry flavors, it is silky-textured, soft, and appealing. Drink it over the next 5-6 years. Importer: Weygandt-Metzler, Peter Weygandt, Unionville, PA; tel. (610) 486-0800.

Good full deep red. Slightly reduced but complex, essence-of-Morey aromas of briary red berries, leather, cinnamon and smoke, plus the distinct vegetal quality that characterizes so much wine from this village. Sweet and silky in the mouth, with spicy, lively red fruit flavors of moderate concentration. Like the estate village Morey, this is also a rather gentle style, finishing with very good but not outstanding length.
