Score 90-92/100 · Stephen Tanzer, Vinous, Jan 2016

(this fruit is from the same owner as the Cazetiers; fermented in a single 600-literfoudre): Dark red-ruby. Deep aromas of blackberry, violet and smoked meat. Creamy on entry, then juicy, energetic and firm-edged; showing less personality today than the Cazetiers but this wine possesses a bit more size and structure, along with a serious spine of tannins and acidity. Finishes with excellent length and lift.

The 2014 Gevrey-Chambertin 1er Cru Lavaux Saint Jacques has a more opulent, slightly more lactic nose compared to the Cazetiers that completely disguises the 30% whole bunch fruit. The palate is stunning: very concentrated with extremely pure red cherry and strawberry fruit, orange zest and citrus peel, very harmonious and sensual towards the finish. Alas, there are just two barrels produced.
