(85% from L'Homme Mort): Pale, bright yellow. Lemon drop and a smoky element on the nose. Thick and peachy on the palate but not fat or heavy thanks to sound acidity. In a powerful, somewhat phenolic style. Not my favorite style of Chablis but has energy and thrust, not to mention excellent length. The crop level here was under 25 hectoliters per hectare owing to a bad flowering and strict sorting in the vineyard.

The 2013 Chablis 1er Cru Fourchaumes Vieilles Vignes saw 20% French oak. It has a straight-laced, slightly flinty bouquet with fine definition, although it would benefit from more energy being infused into the wine. The palate is balanced with good matière on the entry. Here, there is a pleasant salinity toward the malic finish. This has more harmony and length than the other premier crus and is worth seeking out.
Bright, green-tinged yellow. High-pitched nose offers scents of spearmint, white pepper, ginger and juniper; a bit green for a wine from this premier cru. Then dusty, tactile and dry on the palate, with the minty quality carrying through. Not particularly fleshy or deep for Fourchaumes. Finishes with a tannic edge.
