Score 93/100 · Drink 2018-2030, Stephan Reinhardt, Wine Advocate, Mar 2016

From more than 80-year-old ungrafted vines on stony slate soils with a higher quartzite portion, the intensely colored 2014 Enkircher Batterieberg Riesling displays an intense, ripe and well concentrated fruit with speculoos aromas. Very silky textured, this is a rich, round and full-bodied wine with power, elegance, and a very complex and salty taste. The acidity is perfectly integrated into the fleshy body (also due to some percent of botrytis) and the finish is lovely, stimulating and fresh, displaying lemon and grapefruit flavors. This is the only dry Riesling with 10% of botrytis.
