The 2017 Griotte-Chambertin Grand Cru is one of the rarest Burgundy wines you will find, this vintage yielding around 90-litres, not enough to fill a barrel and so instead, it is vinified in a small vat. It is of course, 100% whole bunches. It has a complex bouquet with blackberry, raspberry, incense and hints of lavender - all very expressive and well defined. The palate is medium-bodied with sappy red fruit on the entry, very detailed and precise with a dash of white pepper towards the persistent finish. This is a superb Griotte-Chambertin, although the chances of finding a bottle are approximately the same as Donald Trump voting Democrat.

There are some 80 liters of the 2017 Griotte-Chambertin Grand Cru, the smallest cuvée produced in Burgundy this year, and the wine will charm any consumers who are able to find one of the rare bottles. Offering up notes of rose petal, orange rind, dark chocolate and raspberries, it's medium to full-bodied, sappy and flavorful, with satiny tannins, a juicy core of fruit and a long, fragrant finish.
