Deepish crimson. Some sweet oak spice on the nose. Ripe and spicy and still fresh. Gorgeous balance between the fruit and the harmonious structure. Well-judged oak. So smooth you could almost drink it now but there's no reason to think it won't age well. (JH)

The 2017 Gevrey-Chambertin Les Poissenot 1er Cru has a delineated, pretty, quite feminine bouquet, a mixture of red and black fruit laced with wilted rose petals and black tea. The palate is fresh and crisp on the entry, with a fine bead of acidity. Easygoing, like the En Champs, and the silky finish will be difficult to resist in its youth.
