Drink 0-0, Neal Martin, Jan 2019

The 2017 Bonnes-Mares Grand Cru has a very savory, slightly bretty bouquet that needs more precision. The palate is sweet and candied but it lacks weight and volume on the finish. I am not sure how representative this sample is.

35% whole-bunch fermented. Aged in oak barrels (50% new) for 16 months. Cask sample. Rich, firm and substantial. Gives nothing away. Cocooned in dark fruit, with just a hint of spice on the finish. Polished and fragrant, but with a long way to go in terms of development. (RH)
