Tasting notes
Healthy dark red. Lovely aromatic lift to the aromas of raspberry, black cherry, licorice, mint and menthol. A step up in intensity and depth of flavor from the foregoing samples, showing a stony, savory pungency to its brisk dark fruit and mineral flavors. The sweetest and richest of these 2016s to this point but also boasts terrific energy and lift. The savory, subtly rising, palate-staining finish piques the taste buds. Close to normal yield here, from a cooler site high on the slope.

From the north side of Gevrey: this vineyard is in shade in the afternoon and gets a breeze from the Combe de Lavaux. Tank sample. Shaded and polished. Easy with no sharp edges. Light and lively by Gevrey standards with some liquorice. Very graceful. Lots of (slightly green) energy here. Very long. (JR)
