Tasting notes
The 2015 Clos de Vougeot is impressive for many reasons, not the least of which is how well it shows in this range of totally sublime wines. Dark, sumptuous and powerful, the 2015 is endowed with tremendous energy. Leather, cloves, smoke, graphite and cured meats reinforce an impression of gravitas. (AG)

A super-fresh nose combines notes of a lovely variety of floral and red berry scents with those of warm earth, humus, underbrush and a wisp of spice. There is excellent volume and first-rate power to the imposingly-scaled flavors that possess a surprisingly sleek mid-palate mouthfeel that contrasts considerably with the robust, structured and youthfully austere finish that also delivers stunning length. Once again though make no mistake, this is a bad boy that's going to need plenty of cellar time; indeed it is what I call a 'buy and forget you own it' wine.
The Domaine Leroy 2015 Clos de Vougeot Grand Cru is a wine for the ages, opening in the glass with a classic bouquet of incense, smoky black fruits, red cherry and pencil shavings. On the palate, the wine is full-bodied, deep and firm at the core, with an ample chassis of fine-grained tannins, excellent concentration and a firm, structural finish. Of all the Domaine Leroy 2015s, this—along with the Clos de la Roche—will demand the most extended cellaring. Mar 2018, www.robertparker.com
