This wine is too dry and dusty for my taste. The 2013 Brunello di Montalcino could use more fruit definition and texture. Because the primary fruit appears at such low intensity, you get oak-driven aromas of Spanish cedar and redwood instead. I'm not confident that any prolonged bottle aging will improve the situation.

Mid ruby with orange-tinged rim. Quite a bit of what looks like oak with hints of fennel seed on the nose. Succulent cherry-fruit palate while the drying tannins are not (yet) integrated. A hint of tar on the cherry finish giving the mixed message of being ready and not ready at the same time. (WS) (JR)
