Tasting notes
The 2016 Chablis Vaillons 1er Cru has a focused, quite lively bouquet with chalk dust mixed with green apple and a touch of spice. The palate is well balanced with a smooth entry, faint hints of tropical fruit percolating through – passion fruit and dried pineapple, the finish nicely rounded if just missing the tension that a cooler growing season might have bestowed. Tasted blind at the BIVB Chablis tasting.

More elegant and open-knit than the Tête d'Or bottling, the 2016 Chablis 1er Cru Les Vaillons offers up notes of Meyer lemon, fresh peach and spring flowers. On the palate, it's delicate, medium-bodied and stony, in an easygoing, charming style.
Tank sample. Dusty delicate citrus and just a slight hint of creamy lees. Rounded citrus fruit making this a gentle and creamy whole but still with Chablis freshness. Intense fruit at the core. Very good. (JH)
Light and lively on the nose with some green fruit. Good and racy and really quite delicate. Should satisfy over a long period. (JR)
