A juicy and fruity wine with blueberry and chocolate character. A little loosely knit on the palate, but there’s some good tannin and ripeness. Apr 17, www.jamessuckling.com

Scented. Very dry finish but serious and well constructed for a longish life. Apr 2017, www.jancisrobinson.com, Drink: 2020-2028

The 2016 Jean de Gué is a very pretty, delicious Lalande de Pomerol. Cabernet Franc aromatics add lift to this Merlot-based blend. Supple, pliant and silky, the 2016 is a terrific example of the year. Alain Raynard consults.
