The 2014 Chablis 1er Cru Beauregard is matured partly in cement eggs and part in mostly used wood. The aromatics are not as immediate as the Côte de Jouan and this takes time to unfurl, eventually revealing lovely yellow flower aromas, hints of albumen and citrus fruit, orange blossom emerging last of all. The palate is fresh and vibrant with crisp acidity, zesty and very well poised, perhaps more tensile than the Côte de Jouan; it has a taut saline finish that lingers long in the mouth. This might well be Thomas' standout of the vintage.

Pale yellow. Deeply pitched aromas of peach, apple, spices, crushed rock and lavender. More classic on the palate than the 2013 version, with a bracing quinine note contributing definition to the flavors of lemon and caraway seed. Not as fleshy or forward as the Côtes de Jouan but fresher, denser and more gripping, finishing with good saline extract and length.
