The 2015 Gevrey-Chambertin 1er Cru Les Fontenys wafts from the glass with a ripe bouquet of plum, cassis, rich spice and roasted meat. On the palate, the wine is full-bodied, ample and layered, with a lavish attack and deep core of dark fruit, marked by the vintage but still structured for the long haul. The average age of the Roty's vines in Les Fontenys is around 70 years, and they seem to have handled the warmth of 2015 well.

Healthy deep red. Expressive nose combines red raspberry, tobacco and spices. Supple and sweet on the palate, but with superb vinosity and intensity to its red fruit and spice flavors. This very suave, nuanced wine displays a lovely balance of sucrosité and acidity, along with the serious depth of the better 2015s. The tannins are quite fine, and nicely supported by the wine's mid-palate stuffing.

Bright red-ruby. Floral high tones lift aromas of blackberry and licorice. Dense, supple black fruit flavors are at once creamy and brisk, combining entrancing sweetness and excellent energizing acidity. The most velvety in texture to this point of the Roty 2015s, with the very long, rising finish featuring captivating violet and lavender lift. These vines average 50 years of age and their deep roots go through the rocky subsoil to an underground spring.

The 2015 Gevrey-Chambertin 1er Cru les Fontenys has an expressive bouquet with perfumed red cherries, wild strawberry and dried rose petal notes that are beautifully defined. The palate is very well balanced with candied red and black fruit on the entry, a dash of white pepper, pain d'epices and a very structured, focused finish that lingers for a minute in the mouth. Cellar this away for 4-5 years to reap the rewards. Dec 2016, www.robertparker.com, Drink: 2020-2040
