(18.5 hectoliters per hectare; destemmed): Good dark red. Less showy initially than the young-vines cuvée but ultimately far more complex, offering subtle scents of black raspberry, currant, graphite, smoke, soil and spices. Airy and elegant but at the same time very intensely flavored and subtly thick, with its dark berry, smoke and mineral flavors nicely framed by well-integrated acidity. The very long, slowly building finish features a copacetic combination of sweetness and ripe tannins. Made from 60-year-old vines, this wine is lower in octane and better balanced than the Gevrey-Chambertin Premier Cru; winemaker Nadine Gublin noted that the clone the estate used to replant its Chambertin vines routinely gives more alcohol.

(70% new oak; entirely destemmed): Dark red with ruby tones. Aromas of blueberry, blackberry and violet suggest a profound but energetic wine. Silky on entry, offering a surprisingly light tough, then compellingly floral in the middle palate, further energized by penetrating minerality. This remarkably weightless Chambertin may turn out to be Domaine Prieur's best in a long time. Finishes extremely long, with noble tannins, subtle building perfume and palate-saturating minerality. Winemaker Gublin noted that because this terroir produces a naturally floral, aerienne style, the wine does not need to be lifted by the inclusion of whole clusters; she added that the estate's tiny piece of Clos de Bèze is probably the source of this wine's floral high notes.
The 2015 Chambertin Grand Cru does not include any whole bunch this year, but does include vines in Clos-de-Bèze. It matured in 70% new oak. It has a velvety smooth bouquet that is very seductive: black cherries, creme de cassis and iodine aromas that unfurl from the glass. The palate is well balanced with succulent ripe tannin. This is very juicy with very good weight in the mouth, although I would like to see more precision and terroir expression develop on the finish.
