(20% new oak; entirely destemmed): Bright, dark red. Musky, restrained aromas of dark berries and bitter chocolate. Not a fleshy or fat style but offers very good definition to its juicy dark berry and mineral flavors. Finishes with serious but ripe tannins and good spicy length.

The 2015 Marsannay les Longeroies was completely de-stemmed and matured in 20% new oak. It offers darker fruit than the Fixin, perhaps more introspective at the moment with touches of dried herbs and tobacco infusing the fruit. The palate is well balanced with sappy black fruit and fine salinity. There is plenty of energy conveyed by this Marsannay with wonderful precision and freshness on the finish. Wonderful.

(20% new wood). This too displays just enough wood to merit mentioning on the more elegant nose that is comprised by notes of red and dark currant that are trimmed in a pretty floral nuance. There is fine intensity to the well-detailed middle weight flavors that exude a subtle bead of minerality on the balanced and solidly persistent finish. Lovely. Dec 2016, www.burghound.com
