Good medium red. Musky red berries, spices and dried flowers on the scented nose. Silky and seamless on the palate, displaying rare volume for village wine. Very sexy round, dry village wine with subtle Gevrey soil tones. The long finish features lingering red berry flavors.

Firm and bittersweet with real energy. Lots of sap and chew. Needs time. Hint of rhubarb. (JR)

The 2015 Gevrey Chambertin Villages is Benjamin's main village cuvée that constitutes over 9,000 bottles, mostly sourced from Les Sevrées and La Justice (two-thirds and one-third respectively). It has a crisp, blackberry and redcurrant-scented bouquet with a touch of black tea. The palate is medium-bodied with succulent tannin, fine acidity and poise with good depth on the fleshy finish. This is a commendable village cru, the kind you would instantly whip off a restaurant list.

(racked at the end of July; Leroux will offer 10,000 bottles of this juice, 60% of which comes from Les Seuvrées): Good medium red. Inviting, wonderfully expressive Gevrey aromas and flavors of raspberry, plum, redcurrant, spices, coffee and underbrush; shows a sexy liqueur-like richness. Then wonderfully silky and sweet, boasting excellent intensity and inner-mouth dried flower lift. Finishes with suave, fine-grained, late-arriving tannins and juicy lingering red fruits. Should make a very suave village wine.
