Score 92-94/100 · Drink 2022-2045, Neal Martin, Wine Advocate, Dec 2016

The 2015 Gevrey-Chambertin 1er Cru Champeaux includes 70% whole-bunch fruit this year. It has a very attractive and beautifully defined bouquet with mineral-tinged black cherry and cassis fruit, seductive and sensual with one of the best mineral expressions from the domaine's premier crus. The palate is medium-bodied with tensile tannin driven by the crisp acidity, very well balanced and absorbing the 100% new oak deftly toward the slightly candied, crunchy, live-wire finish. This is excellent.

(80% vendange entier ; 100% new oak): Full, saturated red-ruby. Wild crushed blackberry, black cherry, licorice and leather on the nose. Densely packed and sauvage , with its deep dark berry flavors complicated by leather and fresh blood nuances. This very concentrated wine conveys a lovely balance of sweetness and acidity. Finishes with ripe tannins and terrific chewy persistence, with its purple fruit and spice flavors enlivened by minerality.

80% whole bunch, 100% new oak. Spicy, alluring nose. Racy and really a speed queen. Like a skater somehow. Quite flashy in a good way. Very fine tannins. Long. They have found that Champeaux has really taken a step up recently. (JR)
