Tasting Notes
(a blend of one-third Mazoyères and two-thirds Charmes proper – the fruit comes from a mix of mostly 20+ year-old vines and a small percentage of extremely old vines; 60% stems). A layered and subtly spiced nose offers up notes of rose petal, newly turned earth, liqueur-like dark berry fruit and a hint of the sauvage are trimmed in soft wood nuances. The is admirable richness and concentration to the full-bodied and broad-shouldered flavors that also coat the palate with dry extract that imparts a caressing mouth feel to the hugely long and powerful finish. Good stuff. Dec 2016, www.burghound.com

The 2015 Charmes-Chambertin Grand Cru, which contains between 50-60% whole bunch and comes from one-third Mazoyeres-Chambertin and two-thirds Charmes-Chambertin (as usual), had a quite precocious but detailed bouquet with violet-tinged black cherry and blueberry fruit laced with minerals. The palate is structured on the entry, very well balanced and sorbet freshness, neatly sidestepping any heaviness on the vibrant and energetic finish. This should give two or three decades of drinking pleasure. Dec 2016, www.robertparker.com, Drink: 2022-2045
The 2015 Charmes-Chambertin Grand Cru from Domaine Dugat-Py is spectacular and the most exuberant and fruit-driven of the domaine's grand crus, opening in the glass with a lavish bouquet of Griotte cherry, fruit compote, licorice and incipient hints of rich soil. On the palate, the wine is expansive and full-bodied, its ample chassis of velvety tannins entirely cloaked in a deep core of succulent fruit, its finish long and sappy. This is usually the first of the domaine's holdings to be harvested—in this case, on September 5—and it is also often the most precociously immediate in its youth: in both respects, the 2015 rendition is true to type.
