2015 Chambertin Clos de Beze

Burguet's 2015 Chambertin Clos de Bèze Grand Cru offers striking depth and intensity. There is plenty of Bèze darkness and volume. Succulent dark stone fruit, licorice, menthol, sage and violet notes abound. The 2015 is aging in 2/3rds new oak, but the barrel sample I tasted (from a new barrel) suggests the 2015 has more than enough sheer stuffing to handle the cooperage. As always, the Burguet Bèze offers notable fruit density and richness, both qualities this site produces in ample quantity on its own. - Antonio Galloni

The 2015 Chambertin Clos de Beze Grand Cru is matured in two-thirds new oak. There was a slight reduction on the nose at the time of tasting, but there appeared to be adequate fruit underneath, hints of violet gradually emerging with aeration. The palate is medium-bodied with supple tannin, well-judged acidity, a more understated Clos de Beze but with satisfying length and precision on the finish. This is a solid, delicious Clos-de-Beze from Burguet.

(from purchased grapes). Noticeable wood sets off spicy, cool and well-layered aromas of red currant, cherry, plum, violet and forest floor scents. There is a lovely sense of vibrancy and detail to the mineral-inflected and relatively powerful flavors that possess a highly attractive mouth feel while delivering excellent complexity on the sneaky long finish.
