Suggestions of salted peanut and oregano intriguingly inflect the scents and juicy mouthful of fresh apple on display in a buoyant, subtly sweet performance that reminds me slightly and unexpectedly of Grüner Veltliner. A shimmering sense of fruit and crystalline mineral exchange makes for a fascinating as well as consummately refreshing and vibrantly sustained finish.

The 2015 Riesling Graacher Himmelreich Kabinett (Green Capsule) opens with a super clear, pure, smoky and fascinatingly complex bouquet of crushed slate stones. Round and silky on the palate, this is a very elegant, lush and fruity Himmelreich with generous fruit, a stimulatingly mineral texture and the perfect balance. Great elegance here. Tasted from AP 67 in February 2017.
