Tasting notes
The 2015 Scharzhofberger Riesling Auslese #19 has a clear, fresh and concentrated bouquet of ripe, over-ripe and slightly botrytized Riesling berries. Sweet, piquant and juicy, this is a firmly structured, still a bit astringent Riesling with grip, tension and good aging potential.

This Auslese harvested at 102 degrees Oechsle is still marked by some residual notes from spontaneous fermentation at first. However, these quickly give way to exotic scents of mango and papaya as well as mint, candied grapefruit and pineapple. The wine proves juicy and creamy even if still on the sweet side on the palate at this early stage. However, the finish already hints at greatness to come as grapefruit zest brings freshness in the long finish of this superb Auslese from the Scharzhofberg.
